The Valley Troupers Northleigh
Formed in 1992, The Valley Troupers have staged a wide variety of productions at Northleigh's Village Hall. A one-night entertainment at the Harvest supper that year has grown into a regular annual production. We are always looking for members, so if you are interested in acting or helping behind the scenes, do get in touch. Rehearsals at Northleigh's village hall usually start at 7.45pm each Thursday evening from mid September until performance dates in late March or early April. Ask any member of the Troupers for details of the current production.
The Happiest Days of Your Life (2009) was written by John Dighton and first performed in 1948 but is better known for the film adaptation with Alistair Sim, Margaret Rutherford and Joyce Grenfell. The story is set at the end of WWII. The pupils and teachers of St. Swithins girls' school are relocated as their own school had been bombed. Thanks to a Ministry mix-up, they wind up sharing with a boys' school. The headmaster, headmistress and both sets of teachers try to keep visiting parents from discovering the dilemma but these problems are forgotten when they hear that a third school is about to join them...
