THE VALLEY TROUPERS

The Valley Troupers production of "Murder in Play" has been a great success playing to full houses on the Friday and Saturday. This was possibly the 17th production but no one seems able to remember the exact year the group was formed by Mabel Still and Ba Faraday with their first production "Lady Northleigh's Secret". There is even a video available of the performance if anyone wants to see it, but you may not recognise the cast: they were a lot younger!

This year saw new faces in the company both on stage and backstage and there was an excellent team spirit with all working together to produce the best show possible. We are always looking for more people to join, so contact Bar Faraday if you are interested or just curious and want to know more.

The groups usually meets in September when the search for a new play begins. This is proving more difficult as the years go by, apparently a problem shared by many 'Am-Drams' of long standing.

In the action, one of the newest recruits to the Troupers, Patrick McCaig appeared as Major Pirbright. Stil going strong, the original 'Lady Northleigh' of that very first production, Tara Huffman.

Playing the dodgy character of Boris the director was Mark Watts who has both directed and acted in a number of Trouper productions. The cast together with the back stage team are drawn from the villages of Southleigh, Northleigh, Farway, Awliscombe, Colyton and Luppit, sustaining the claim to "home grown theatre".
